Essex Real Estate & Homes for Sale in Maryland

The scenic waterways winding in and around Essex might be the reason why the community is so popular. Essex, known as a gateway to the Chesapeake Bay, is beautiful, relaxing and filled with fun things to do. The community thrives on the strength of 39,000 residents who enjoy living between the city of Baltimore and the waters of the Chesapeake Bay. The location can’t be beat—just off Interstate 95, at the base of the peninsula that extends into the Chesapeake Bay and 20 minutes east of Baltimore. Holly Beach and Cedar Beach are just a few miles away, as are Martin State Airport and the growing community of Middle River. Major roadways in the area, such as Interstates 95 and 695 and State Routes 702 and 150, provide easy access in and out of Essex. Popular activities for locals include fishing, sailing, walking, dining out and relaxing with friends. Baltimore Yacht Club, Essex Marina and Rocky Point Golf Course are a few of the community’s much-used recreational venues. Greater Baltimore County also offers many community parks, additional golf courses and waterfront shops and restaurants to enjoy. Public schooling in Essex is provided by Baltimore County Schools. The district serves a student population of roughly 100,000 through more than 165 campuses, including Essex Elementary School. Real estate options consist of detached, single family homes, condominiums, townhouses, and land for custom building.
